how many lady fingers does it take to make a tiramisu??

answer: more than what I anticipated...

the same answer goes to the question: "how many doctoral students does it take to put on a temporary tattoo correctly?"

last thursday, June and I were just chillin' at a park in Monrovia, and we see a bunch of these little white linty thingies on the floor. no big dealio...then we started noticing that they were moving and had legs on them...

anyway, mystery solved! they were wooly aphids...blegh.

hope this never gets stuck in your bellybutton.

If my Spring Break were to be summed up in a Mastercard commercial...

1) Flight to NYC: $400

2) Minutes of animal entertainment: free!

(Picture #1 = Amelie chewing up Janice's old Kashi box; Picture #2 = random couple at grocery store's puppy)

3) Indigenous New York treats: $20

(Picture #1 = Amy's Bread Irish Soda Scone - rating = 8.5/10; Picture #2: Chocolate hazelnut/chocolate chip gelato from a gelato/wine bar in East Village - rating = 9.5/10; Picture #3: "orange" corn muffin from Sarabeth's at Chelsea Market - rating = 4.5/10 because they said it was orange-flavored, but it was just cornbread; Picture #4 = Oat Currant Scone from Belthazar - rating = 6.5/10)

4) A handful of metrocards and subway rides over the span of 3 days: $20

(Sandy and I only got lost once...score!)

5) a surprise behind-the-scenes tour of the Food Network: FREE!!

(It sure pays to recognize and accost food stylists withdrawing money from the ATM machines )

(btw, I got a free pack of rolls from the Food Network...one of these rolls has been immortalized and is now sitting on my mandle...yesh...I've gone to the crazy side)

6) Memories and fun times with fabulous UCSD roomies: PRICELESS.

New York was lovely..*sigh*...time to return to school...
